The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Just thought I should update my journal since my subscription is going to run out again soon.

Lots of stress lately, I don't really want to talk about it that much since this is my favorite time of year HALLOWEEN.
Even with everything that's going on right now, the smell of fall and the lovely theme of Halloween always cheers me up.

But anyway, since I did say this on tumblr, I'll just say that my mom is in the hospital right now, quite stressing, but she'll probably be okay once the get all the tests back and actually decide if she needs surgery or not.

BUT my birthday is on the 11th so that's fun haahah.

Jees, I hope your mom is ok. Speaking of medical issues, I just witnessed an anxiety attack that one of my friends had today. She has them all the time, but this is the first time I've seen it happen. It looked very painful, I mean, it was almost like a seizure.

But, I agree with you on Halloween~ My dad's birthday is on the 24th, too, and he loves Halloween, too lol

That's good, and so do I.
It's more like a panic attack that almost looks like a seizure. She just...lays down on the ground and tenses up really bad. I had to lie her head in my lap and let her squeeze my hands today until the pain stopped. I feel so bad for her because it keeps getting more and more recent. Like, more than one each day. She's been to the doctor plenty of times, and no one knows whats wrong. It's really sad.

Isn't, though? I mean, not counting all of these bad things that have been going on lol

That's happened to me with my mom a few times before. She has heart and hip/back issues. She had to have metal plates put in her back when I was little.
Same here, and thanks for your concern. I feel bad for her because she's kinda self-conscious about it in a way, with the whole "everyone looks at her weird because she's having problems" sort of thing.
