Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me. :la:
Sadly I will be alone for this one. Matt had to do a concert he didn't want to do, so I will be live tweeting (humonlazydiva) my impression of the whole shebang. :D
The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Note- me and my friend wrote this, we took turns writing it!  we wrote ways we thought people would die in the movie on a piece of paper.

Thorn- Hello I'm the nostalgia critic-
Raven- No you're not.
Thorn- Fine, fine. I'm ~PurebloodVamp.
Raven-:) and I'm ~Raven-Blood-13 and we are critiquing the "horror" movie Tooth fairy!
Thorn- A 2006 'Horror' flick,[link] Tooth fairy  is a exploration of the old myths about witches taking the teeth of children, cursing them to roam the earth forever.
Raven-In other words, it was mostly bull shit. We took it upon ourselves to score the movie. We wrote ways we thought characters would die. :)
Thorn- We hoped that most would be wrong, save for the wood chipper XD, proving against the usual cliches.
Raven- I enjoyed the castration scene very much! Where two rednecks fall to a gruesome fate, one brother is castrated and his other brother comes over and asks him sincerely, "what's your dick doing over there?!" I lol'ed.
Thorn- Yes, it was hilarious. And then a hippie got crucified!!
Raven- I enjoyed that! Hmm lets see... oh yeah and a druggie rocker was decapitated whilst waiting for the sex scene!
Thorn- *to Raven* Remember that death at the beginning? Hick-boy back in '49, slayed by his own greed!
Raven- Yes! Though it could have had more blood, still made me smile!
Thorn- Anyway, we have our "Death Bets"
